Apple censored some vulgar words but not all

Apple released its new Tile alternative: the AirTag. A little stainless button to keep in a bag or attach to a keychain for tracking your stuff using your iPhone through Bluetooth connection.

A typical option for some Apple products when bought online is the opportunity to engrave them via laser with a word to have more personalization.

However, there are limits on which words you can engrave. For example, back in the days of the iPod (2014) you couldn’t use swear words for that device.

The available characters include letters and numbers, black and white circle symbols, and a limited range of emojis: 4 smileys, 4 gestures, 13 animals, 6 fictional creatures, the skull, and the poop. Anyway, some combos are not allowed, for example, you can’t use “horse shit”, “dog shit”, “pig shit” or “bull shit” but you can say “shit horse” and “chicken shit”, though. The same is for the shits of all the other non-humanoid options: alien, unicorn, ghost, robot, cat alien, skull, tiger, dragon, monkey, sheep, bunny, snake, mouse, and bear.

Obviously, shit, piss, fuck, and the C-bomb are right out. However, Apple will let you cuss if you replace U with a V to write FVCK and CVNT. Replacing the letter I with an exclamation point will do the same.

Anyway, you can breathe a sigh of relief since you can engrave your AirTag with fart, bum, butt, anal, pee, but not ass, arse, poop, or poo. But you still can use the poop emoji, even combined with the letters “UR” placed before.

As for numbers, 69 and 420 (cannabis) are both allowed. Not only can you not choose boob as your engraving. You can, however, just type in the number 8008.

If your name is “Dick” or a Jiraporn whose nickname is “Porn”, you’re in luck, both are allowed. Sex, cock, peen, vag, bush, muff, pube, and quim are okay; twat, tits, clit, jizz, and slut are not (SLVT works, though).

ACAB, s8n, hell, and 666 are all possible options.

However, one thing seems like a major easily avoided oversight: While slut or boob are off the table, Apple apparently has no problem engraving nazi on your new AirTag or AirPods case.
