Touchless faucets and smart toilets but not only
CES 2021, as the most influential tech event in the world, also hosts bathroom companies including Kohler (an American manufacturing company) that presented new interesting technologies for toilets focusing more on relaxing and sanitation this year.
Stillness Bath
When you ordinarily run a bath, you may leave the room until it’s at the best temperature or full enough. But the Kohler Stillness Bath’s experience begins at the running water stage. Filling from the bottom of the bath, it creates a soothing sound that’s subtle and makes you feel like you’re surrounded by a waterfall. This unique feature makes a chore become a cathartic experience. Besides, it sets the mood for an aromatherapy experience.
The bath is based on the Japanese forest bathing or shinrin-yoku, a practice that was scientifically proven to improve your health. Shinrin-yoku means spending more time around trees which is a blessing for physical and psychological wellness. The air from trees contains oils that protect from germs and help your immune system, as well as lowering heart and blood pressure and reduce stress, depression.
In addition, the bathtub softly emits invigorating fragrances from essential oils into your bathroom that provides a comforting home for a peaceful mind. Best of all, with a hot temperature, the bath creates a fog that envelopes the water surface that reaches up to the brim.
Touchless Bathroom Faucet
Nowadays, touching stuff is not the best for personal hygiene, especially in the bathroom. Kohler released the Sensate touchless kitchen faucet in 2019, and this new bathroom-focused model offers the same hands-free interaction. Two styles will be available, one with built-in sensing in the faucet itself and another with a button beside the faucet.
Intelligent Toilet
This intelligent toilet brings to the West all features of Japanese-style toilets. It includes a heated seat, an auto-opening/closing lid, a remote, as well as a personal bidet function. Kohler also says you can install the toilet yourself thanks to its DIY-friendly ReadyLock design.
In another toilet model, instead, there’s a sensor in the flush lever so that it flushes with the wave of your hand, and the built-in LED light can be customized through the Kohler app.
Kohler-Phyn Smart Water Monitor
Kohler, powered by Phyn, will launch two co-branded products, the Kohler Whole Home Water Monitor, and a second version with automatic water shut off. The monitor is a self-installed system that mounts under one sink in your home where it can detect water use throughout your plumbing system and notifies you if a leak occurred anywhere in the home. It will also provide detailed insight into how each fixture uses water.
Oriental trends are gradually influencing the West as well: first of all it happened with food, and now thanks to technology applied to the bathroom which, at first with spas (such as the Turkish bath) and now with Japanese-style bathrooms, will probably replace the traditional idea of bathroom. America will probably replace its usual toilets with Japanese ones that, as well as having more technology, also have an integrated bidet that has always been ignored by the American bathroom.
