A Toyota Fortuner equipped with a toilet

The toilet has been integrated into the extra room of the interior

In RVs, camper vans, and caravans, it is typical to see completely functional restrooms, but it is uncommon to see a toilet inside a car. A Toyota Fortuner owner from Trivandrum, Kerala (India), decided to install a toilet seat in his SUV primarily to save himself the trouble of searching for a clean restroom when visiting unusual locations.

As explained in this article, the toilet in the Fortuner SUV is easily accessible from inside the cabin thanks to its integration into the extra space inside and half of the boot. Due to the commode box taking up half of the third row of seats, the SUV only has space for six passengers and has a little amount of baggage space in the back.

The vehicle was adapted by Kerala-based Ojes Automobiles, a coach design company famous for creating vanity vans for many movie stars.

Modifications, according to Ojes Automobiles’ MD Biju Markose, happen as follows: “We study customer requirements and make all the possible modifications as per their needs. This particular (Fortuner) customer wants to travel all over the country and there might not be toilet facilities available in all areas, so he wanted to put a commode inside the vehicle”.

According to Markose, the truck uses a marine toilet system that was imported from the Netherlands. It has a drainage tank and a touchscreen for flushing, which uses a low quantity of water to pump the waste down that can be later disposed of. In addition, the odor is reduced with the use of specific chemicals.

The toilet compartment may be accessed from the cabin, according to the video, although it is extremely small and not designed for prolonged sitting. However, having a working toilet seat inside the car is unquestionably very helpful while going to remote locations.

Following the pandemic, vacuum toilet conversions are increasingly common in India, especially for people planning lengthy trips. Taxi drivers frequently use this option because they frequently struggle to find clean, secure restrooms while on the go.
