Airbus launches touchless toilets

A new concept for a more hygienic experience

As a consequence of the pandemic problem, many companies began thinking more about hygiene, and a Japanese airline was the first to introduce anti-infection elbow doorknobs to not touch the doors of their plane toilets.

This time, as reported here, Airbus has been the next who thought about this problem partnering with Dielh Aviation to offer a touchless toilet refit option for its A320 and A330ceo aircraft, which was unveiled at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg.

American Airlines is the world’s largest operator of the A320 family of aircraft. Cathay Pacific, Turkish Airlines, and Delta Air Lines are among the largest A330ceo operators with this retrofit option.

As part of its Health Onboard campaign, Airbus seeks to build trust in travel, and the touchless toilet now joins the manufacturer’s other endeavors to create a safer environment on board its planes. Therefore, they include top-down cabin air flows, HEPA filters, and antimicrobial polishes and coatings.

The water faucet, waste flap, toilet lid, and toilet flush buttons all become touchless as part of Dielh Aviation’s touchless toilet conversion. Airbus’ existing and in-development line-fit touchless alternatives are supplemented by the retrofit option.

In addition to providing a more sanitary environment for passengers and crew, Airbus claims that the low weight of the kit, cheap purchasing price, and the same component number for a wide range of Airbus aircraft types, and keeping costs and inventory low are among the benefits for airlines.

The refit is also simple enough that it may be accomplished overnight without requiring the aircraft to be taken out of service for an extended period of time.

Dielh Aviation employs over 4,000 people and is one of the major suppliers of cabin furnishings and aircraft systems. Airbus, Boeing, Embraer, and military partners from around the world are among its clients.

Dielh Aviation will be able to sell its touchless toilet through Airbus’s sales channels as a result of its cooperation with the aircraft maker. Harald Mehring, Diehl Aviation’s chief customer officer stated.

Airbus started its Keep Trust in Travel campaign as an immediate response to the unique situation at the outset of the pandemic. This has since developed into the Health Onboard mission, which focuses on long-term, long-lasting capabilities to combat future pandemics.

Airbus claims satisfaction in knowing that the air in its cabins is replaced every two to three minutes, due in part to HEPA filters that remove more than 99.9% of airborne particles, including micro bacteria and virus clusters.

Touchless toilets, regardless of pandemics, are the right solution for more hygienic public bathrooms for any facility. Many already adopt some touchless components, but the best for a public bathroom is undoubtedly a totally touchless environment.
