Grabber machines with toilet paper and hand sanitizer

2 funny cases in this worrying time

The panic buying of toilet paper and cleaning products triggered by coronavirus inspired a UK businessman, Rob Braddick (48 y.o.) owner of Braddick’s Holiday Park in Westward Ho!, in the southwest of England who filled the toys grabber machines in his amusement arcade with toilet paper and hand sanitizers (two of the most sought sanitary products in the country).

Visitors can now pay 50p (65 cents) for three goes on the toilet roll grabber, or £1 ($1.30) for one go to grab Carex, which Braddick considers the “Rolls-Royce of hand sanitizers”. His decision was born to try to cheer people up during this worrying time where around the world people have to remain in quarantine and Supermarkets have seen shortages of toilet paper and hand sanitizer due to consumers’ panic buying.

Braddick said his family business, which has been running since 1932, has received several calls from customers who don’t want to travel abroad for their holidays and would stay in the UK, About precautions, Braddick said staff have been told to wash their hands every half hour, which is very important for those handling money in the arcade.

Eddy Chapman and his toilet paper grabber machine

However, this is not the only case. Another businessman, Eddy Chapman (34 y.o.), who runs Chapman Furland in Bridlington, decided to fill grabber machines with toilet paper. Here you pay 30p (37 cents) for one go. This arcade got popular and a man won saying that he drove 68 miles and spent £30 ($37) to get a roll of paper.
