What causes pee to be yellow
Generally, pee ranges from a pale yellow color to deep amber. This is caused primarily by urobilin, a biliary pigment derived from the degradation of bilirubin (the result of the destruction of red blood cells). The more water you drink, the lighter the pigment in your urine.
So people who drink more produce a pale yellow pee compared to those who drink less and have a darker amber color.
Anyway yellow is not the only color pee can assume. Some food can alter the color to a more reddish shading like beetroots. Carrots and pumpkins give a more orange shading, and asparagus makes urine green.
Finally, some drugs like methylene blue can even alter the color of pee to blue.
